Artworks for Neosonica and Dustopia

Two large-format artworks were commissioned by Dustopia Collective for the 2024 Teleport Art-Car Festival.

The brightly colored piece is a light-animated mural which morphs and fades at night when illuminated with alternating red, green and blue LED par lights. The mural contains three image layers —each layer printed in either yellow, cyan or magenta— and utilizes color theory for animation.

Both murals were partially created using Adobe Firefly's AI image-generation tools. Because the Firefly AI generator is trained solely on images Adobe owns, and on public-domain imagery, there are zero copyright infringement concerns. Both compositions, however, are themselves copyrightable, as the generated images were significantly altered and collaged to form the final works.

The mono-tone mural collages dozens of images, which took days to coax out of Adobe Firefly. Achieving useable AI-generated imagery in specific style is no easy feat, requiring many, many iterations.

The festival was a blast, with added bonus of amazing wild-flower fields fueled by Spring showers!
